What you will learn

Learn a gentle overhead shot that lands near the net. This TRAINOVIX lesson shows a simple setup, a specific practice action and a way to notice your progress without rushing.

Practice step by step

  1. Check that the court is clear and others are outside racket range.
  2. Use slow feeds and a clear overhead swing area.
  3. Prepare as for a clear, then make softer contact so the shuttle travels shorter.
  4. Compare where the shuttle lands after different gentle contacts.
  5. Practise a few gentle feeds and take a break before rushing.

Coaching tips

How to progress

Start with the simplest version of the activity. Give yourself enough time to learn the movement, ask for feedback when useful, and choose a more challenging variation only when your practice feels comfortable and controlled.
