Defending Passing Lanes
Guide attackers away from an easy passing option.
What you will learn
Guide attackers away from an easy passing option. This TRAINOVIX lesson shows a simple setup, a specific practice action and a way to notice your progress without rushing.
Practice step by step
- Warm up gently with easy touches in a clear playing space.
- Mark a simple passing lane with cones and a partner.
- Keep your body side-on, take small steps and position yourself between ball and target.
- Check whether the passing lane is closed without making contact.
- Repeat a few controlled passes or touches, then try a new angle when comfortable.
Coaching tips
- Stay patient rather than lunging toward the ball.
- Look up between touches and give teammates enough space.
How to progress
Start with the simplest version of the activity. Give yourself enough time to learn the movement, ask for feedback when useful, and choose a more challenging variation only when your practice feels comfortable and controlled.
