Calling the Ball
Build a habit of early communication.
What you will learn
Build a habit of early communication. This TRAINOVIX lesson shows a simple setup, a specific practice action and a way to notice your progress without rushing.
Practice step by step
- Begin with gentle ball movements in a clear, shared practice area.
- Work with three teammates and gentle tosses.
- Say mine clearly before moving into the ball's path, then call a target.
- Discuss whether everyone understood the call in time.
- Repeat easy feeds, then try the movement with teammates when ready.
Coaching tips
- Respect teammates' space during shared plays.
- Call early and keep enough room for everyone to move.
How to progress
Start with the simplest version of the activity. Give yourself enough time to learn the movement, ask for feedback when useful, and choose a more challenging variation only when your practice feels comfortable and controlled.
