Shielding the Ball
Protect possession by placing your body between the ball and pressure.
What you will learn
Protect possession by placing your body between the ball and pressure. This TRAINOVIX lesson shows a simple setup, a specific practice action and a way to notice your progress without rushing.
Practice step by step
- Warm up gently with easy touches in a clear playing space.
- Work with a partner providing only light, agreed pressure.
- Turn sideways, keep a stable base and use small touches away from the partner.
- Check that you stay balanced without pushing or grabbing.
- Repeat a few controlled passes or touches, then try a new angle when comfortable.
Coaching tips
- Stay non-contact during early practice.
- Look up between touches and give teammates enough space.
How to progress
Start with the simplest version of the activity. Give yourself enough time to learn the movement, ask for feedback when useful, and choose a more challenging variation only when your practice feels comfortable and controlled.
